Revisiting

It has been interesting to look at possibilities with surface design techniques for this challenge. I love to create my own backgrounds using dye or paint. Further layers are added with applique or more surface design or stitch. With the idea I had in mind I needed to experiment on an actual quilted piece. I had just the quilt in mind, having pulled it out of my stash for possible repurposing anyway. I had nothing to lose and lots of possibilities to try.

However I wasn't as free with splashing the paint around to get the desired effect I was seeking, so began on the back of the work, as in the above photo. The interesting consequence was what happened on the front of the work, when the moisture and colour seeped through along quilted lines.

Definitely a possibility to use again.
