As You Set Out

For my first quilt in the "Ithaka" series, I decided to illustrate the poem's first part, focusing especially on the word "hope". When you set out, expectations are high; anything is possible. We like to imagine the best-case scenario. Sunny skies, smooth seas. Time will tell if our hopes will be realized.

Finished size 40x27in

Hand-dyed, batiks and commercial cotton fabrics

Hand-cut pieces of fabric, machine pieced and appliqued in a collage style, then quilted with hand-guided machine stitching
