Family Homestead

We had a family homestead. Visits there were rare but cherished. You see, my father was in the military and we relocated often, sometimes every couple of years and sometimes within a few months. This made our visits to the family homestead very special to my brothers and me. We actually envied our cousin who lived near-by and visited there regularly.

With this piece, I envisioned an ancient sequoia, native to California, site of our family homestead, being visited by teems of visiting, far-flung relatives. And, as it happens, the tree continues as home to the locals.
