Leaving the nest...
As I'm going into the Possibilities challenge, I can't help thinking about the pending departure of my youngest son as he heads off to college this September. Possibilities, indeed! All the years that have passed since I first looked upon that tiny little person and imagined what his life might be like, what the world might be like when he grew up. My children have been very fortunate to live in a world with many possibilities. I cannot wait to see where life takes him. ....a

Landscape Possibilities
When I took this photo this past winter I certainly didn't think...'Oh, look at the possibilities.' In hindsight, that's exactly what there was...possibilities...covered in snow. Incidentally, both photos were taken with the same camera, same settings. Those are the 'real' colors! This photo, however, fairly screams 'wow, look at the possibilities!....flowers, birds, growth....' Which naturally touches off visions of color, line, growth, magic....creation. Back in my studio

Possibilities, possibilities...
Possibilities seem to open like a tree in front of me, or like branching roads on a map. Travelling offers a lot of possibilities to learn new things and be inspired to create new work. This word has given me lots of food for thought. Thank you for choosing it!

What If, Indeed!
Thanks, Lisa-Marie, Possibility is one of the mantras I live by. It's pretty much exactly how I work, I'll make one piece, and then ask myself, what if I do something different, how will it come out? For instance, I made Multicellular, which we just revisited in Layered Voices- I made one complete quilt, then cut holes in it and inserted the translucent panels. It left me with a couple of leftover chunks of stitched material, so I asked myself what if I used them as the start

Work in progress
This is work in progress. I'm afraid I have no time to complete the Serenity piece until June - I have many other deadlines looming that I cannot miss. So I have put together a mock-up of what I intend to do. As I said in my earlier blog, water is what brings me serenity. Flowing streams are good, but the sea is even better. Whether rough or calm, I love to listen to the sound of the waves. This piece is called The Town, The Shore, And The Deep Blue Sea. And it will be finis

Mindset
Not environments, but mindsets determine a person’s mood. Like a lotus flower in a quiet muddy pond, it is still pure and elegant, as well as its own reflection. Everyone has an inner self. We all have our problems and issues. Finding serenity amidst chaos is a positive energy and wisdom. Lotus is clean and fragrant. It represents the ideal realm of purity in Buddhism. To me, hand sewing requires a quiet and relaxed manner at any time. Neither too fast nor too slow. It is als

What if?
Noun: pos·si·bil·i·ty Plural noun: possibilities A thing that may happen or be the case the state or fact of being possible a thing that may be chosen or done out of several possible alternatives I believe each moment in our lives is a decision point. Consciously or unconsciously, we sift through alternatives and act. What to study, where to live, what to do, what to buy; from the profound to the mundane; there are so many possibilities! The word for Challenge 5 is Possibilit
