Quilting adds the zing!

A quilt without added stitch [ quilting] is flat and has no zing. Quilting completes the work, makes it shine and gives it texture, movement and shadows as light falls on the stitched areas. Quilting often also adds to the story the work is expressing. The stitching can be by hand or machine.

This is a detail of the beginning of the quilting on my quilt Love XOX which I have made for the Integration series.

The thread colours were changed to add interest and pick up the main colours in the design. I used the walking foot for the quilting. I hope you are inspired to try different ways to quilt your work.
